Yonnet Sweeps Moreno Off Her Feet

Project Info

Project Description

Behind every great women is a great harmonica player?  No, not really but that was the case at the 2018 Gracie Awards when Harmonicist Frederic Yonnet paid tribute to actress Rita Moreno with a special rendition of the timeless classic “Somewhere.” Moreno received an Academy Award for best supporting actress in West Side Story, the musical that made the song famous. Moreno’s over 70+ years in entertainment has placed her in an elite and celebrated class of artists who have received all four major American entertainment awards: Emmy, Oscar, Grammy and Tony.

Moreno was among the distinguished honorees representing national tv, radio, non-commercial syndicated radio and national interactive media and recognized at the annual Gracie Awards held May 22, 2018 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.

Yonnet’s soulful arrangement of Leonard Bernstein’s Somewhere was featured during the In Memoriam at the 2016 Democratic National Convention.
