  • Frédéric Scores Music for TV One's Quiet on the Set
Frédéric Yonnet entertains the audience during the taping of the show, (2005)

The signature sound of Frederic Yonnet can be heard during the opening music of TV One’s (www.tvoneonline.com ) new show Quiet on the Set – a series of interview specials that highlight the works and lives of major African American figures in the entertainment world. The music, written and produced by Frederic and FYI Music Group features Carla Sims on vocals.

The show, which airs on Sept 1 at 8pm and runs in rotation throughout the month, features award-winning writer, director and producer John Singleton interviewed by show host Mary Major. On the show, Singleton talks about his legendary career in the film business, his childhood and values, and what motivates him as a filmmaker. All of the interviews are taped at Howard University before a student audience. Check local listing for upcoming shows.

    Silver Spring Jazz Festival 2005

Frederic Yonnet joins one of the most outstanding musicians of our generation, Wynton Marsalis, at the second annual Silver Spring Jazz Festival in Silver Spring, Maryland on Sept. 10, beginning at 2pm. Other performing artists include Silver Spring native Marcus Johnson, the Ron Holloway, Group, and Carol Sloane.

The festival, dedicated to bassist, jazz legend and Silver Spring native Keter Betts, who died earlier this month, will kick off with a showcase of local youth talent in a New Orleans-style parade through the city and a competition between the bands. The competition will be judged by Marsalis; Susan Jenkins, president of Jazz Alliance International; Ira Sabin, JazzTimes’ own founder and Chairman Emeritus; radio host Rusty Hassan; and radio personality Jacqui Allen. Check local listings or fredyonnet.com for exact performance times.
