Dear Friend,
When it comes to the harmonica, French-born jazz
harmonicist Frédéric Yonnet knows how to turn
skeptics into believers. Most people perceive the
harmonica as a "side" instrument used in country and
blues. However, Yonnet is one of a handful of
musicians to successfully demonstrate the
harmonica's versatility as a lead instrument in
contemporary jazz.
From jamming with pop rockers Smashmouth to opening for
the jazz fusion Rites of Stings featuring Jean-Luc Ponty,
Stanley Clarke and Al Di Meola, Frédéric demonstrates his
versitility and style, impressing fans of both. Check out a performance
or listen to his music to judge for yourself.

Jams with Smashmouth. The pop rock group Smashmouth invited
Frédéric to share the stage during a recent fundraiser for
the National Children's Museum in Washington, DC. Members
of Smashmouth, widely known for their song "All Star" featured
in Shrek 1, commented that they had never heard such a great
sound from the harmonica.
Frédéric opens for Rites of String Tour in Baltimore.
Fans got more than they expected when Frédéric hit the stage
at Baltimore's new Hippodrome Theater on June 14th.
There were whispers in the crowd when Frédéric steped to
the microphone with just his harmonica. Within seconds,
heads were bobbin' and feet were tappin' as Frédéric demonstrated
his ability to groove, playing both the harmony and melody
at the same time. Guitarist Chuck Underwood and violinist
Matvei Segalov eventually joined Frédéric on stage for a
45 min open to a show featuring the masters--- Jean-Luc
Ponty, Stanley Clarke and Al Di Meola.
